Explore our conservation sites on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts

Matapalo

Like all of our sites the main focus of the Matapalo site is the conservation of sea turtles mainly olive ridley(Lepidochelys kempii).

The site also closely monitors local sloth populations with volunteers participating in 4-5 "sloth walks" per week. Beach cleaning and recycling are also key responsibilities.

Volunteers engage in community service, beach cleaning, and facility maintenance. This remote site requires boat access, offering a truly unique wilderness experience.
